FREE Dementia Friends Information Session

Join us at our next Dementia Friends Information Session at The Dower House, Hexton and find out more about dementia and how this disease affects people.

Each session is just 60 minutes and tea and coffee are provided and it's FREE!

The session is part of the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perception of dementia, a disease which touches the lives of millions of people across the UK.

Through the interactive ‘Dementia Friends Information Session’, attendees will be able to find out about the small things we can do to make a difference to those affected by dementia in our communities. They will also able to find out about local support services available to people with dementia and their families.

Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion. It aims to create more communities and businesses that are dementia friendly so that people with dementia feel understood and included.

During the session you will be asked to think about how you could take this forward by thinking about one thing that you could do make life better for someone living with dementia. This could be anything from deciding to be more patient with people who have or might have dementia when they are queuing to pay in shops, to telling 5 friends about Dementia Friends, to becoming a Dementia Friends Champion.
